Peugeot 106 XSi for 2001

Shame to drill holes in it. Rollcage fitted. Electrical system butchered.

Well, after a long and uncertain time, I can at last confirm that I will be racing in the Stock Hatch championship in 2001 in a brand new car, built over the winter.

The car is a Peugeot 106 XSi, one of several new 106 based cars to line up in 2001. Despite very tight deadlines, the car was in a fit state to take its place on the grid for the first race of the year, and had a very encouraging race. There is still work to do, but what race car is ever finished?

I must thank the following people for their help.

  • John Gladman, for the advice I needed before I could even consider building my own car.
  • Chris Payne, for some fantastic cage welding.
  • Mike Gordon, for useful contacts, and component manufacture.
  • Tony Foy of Weld and Metalcraft, for a fuel tank.
  • Darren Blumson, for coming all the way down here to help me fit torsion bars, despite a back problem.
  • Richard Gordon, John Gordon, Paul Goulding, for their hands on assistance.
The pictures above are single frames from the camcorder. That was the best I could do pre-season. Hopefully better ones to follow in the pictures archive as the season progresses
